Tides of change

Fortunately hoards of producers and consumers are taking notice of the apparent health and environmental issues surrounding large scale food production. They are shifting away from intensively farmed produce for obvious reasons – food scares like BSE and foot and mouth rattle public opinion, and with genuine cause for concern one begins to question what exactly what we are eating. More and more of us are realising that food production small scale doesn’t only taste better but buying with a conscience and supporting regional and local growers and farmers markets gives us a real connection with origin. Knowing where our food comes from and how it is treated gives us choice.

Since we opened the doors at Terre à Terre seventeen years ago we have been lucky enough to meet a lot of small producers and establish good relationships with them it has taken time but Sussex and its surrounding areas are crammed full of extremely diverse producers who are producing a very high standard demand has grown and supplies are more plentiful.
